Falcon Field NAVIAD System Study Peachtree City, Georgia Client Challenge: The Peachtree City Airport Authority desires to increase the use of its Peachtree City Falcon Field Airport by corporate general aviation aircraft and must determine if certain improvements required to make the airport more attractive to that type of air traffic are possible.   PRIME Solution: Prime provided engineering services to study proposed improvements including extension of the runways, upgrades of the airport’s NAVAID systems, addition of a medium intensity approach lighting system with runway alignment indicator lights (MALSR), relocation of the automated surface observing system (ASOS), and a TERPS analysis.  Prime was to determine the feasibility of each item and make recommendations on their implementation. Prime Engineering was selected to re-examine key components of the recently approved Airport Layout Plan for Falcon Field for their potential implementation. These include: Extension of the runway utilizing declared distances to meet runway safety area requirements. TERPS analyses to support the installation of a glide slope antenna and approach lighting system (MALSR) to complement the existing localizer facility and achieve a Category Iinstrument landing system (ILS). Evaluation of alternative sites and preparation of plans and specifications to relocate theautomated surface observing system (ASOS)and open access to prime land areas available for terminal area facilities development.
