AATC needed to upgrade the steam plant of a major international airport and replace three steam boilers, deaerating feedwater heater, hot water supply system and balance of plant equipment. Additionally, they were concerned about the age, condition and cost to maintain the remaining equipment in the steam plant. |

As sub-consultant to Cleveland Mechanical, Prime provided engineering services to design the modifications and prepare construction documents needed for the installation of the new equipment and systems

Prime provides engineering services including preliminary design, final design, permitting assistance, and construction administration assistance to a mechanical contractor for an Engineer/Procure/Construct (EPC) project to upgrade the steam plant at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
The project scope of work includes the following:
- Demolition of 3 steam boilers
- Demolition of deaerating feedwater heater and storage tank
- Demolition of 2 feedwater pumps
- Demolition of 4 hot water heat exchangers
- Demolition of 2 sets of hot water supply pumps
- Demolition of a steam pressure reducing station and desuperheater
- Demolition of 60 psig steam, condensate, and hot water piping around the existing hot water heat exchangers and pumps
- Installation of 3 new packaged boilers
- Installation of a new deaerator feedwater heater and storage tank
- Installation of 3 new boiler feed pumps
- Installation of 3 new hot water heat exchangers
- Installation of 3 new hot water supply pumps
- Installation of 2 new steam pressure reducing valve stations with desuperheaters
- Installation of new PLC based control systems for the new boilers and balance of plant equipment
- Modifications of existing piping systems to accommodate the new equipment
- Installation of new steam supply, condensate, and hot water piping of new hot water heat exchangers and supply pumps
- Modifications of existing electrical power distribution to accommodate the new equipment
