Atlanta, GA: Prime Engineering, Inc. celebrates a double win for their innovative design and construction of the Delta TechOps Engine Overhaul Facility at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
After securing the top prize at the 2024 Georgia Engineering Awards in February, the project has been recognized on the national stage, receiving a prestigious National Recognition Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition.
This national recognition further validates Prime Engineering’s exceptional work that Delta’s Atlanta TechOps facility. Originally designed to address Delta Air Lines’ challenge of limited space for servicing their growing fleet, the project transformed the existing Domestic Cargo facility into a modern hub for the Geared Turbo Fan (GTF) Engine and Fan Case Shops. The new GTF maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility is one of 16 facilities in the world (3 domestically) capable of maintaining the GTF engine. Prime’s expertise delivered a custom solution exceeding Delta’s expectations, featuring:
- Dedicated airside and landside access for efficient engine maintenance.
- Phased construction to minimize disruptions during operations.
- Modified precast concrete walls with energy-efficient windows for a sustainable design.
- Optimized workflow to streamline engine servicing processes.
“We are incredibly proud to see the Delta TechOps Engine Overhaul Facility receive national recognition,” said Prime President Cuong H. Dinh, PE. “This award underscores our commitment to collaborative problem-solving and delivering innovative solutions that empower our clients. The success of this project is a testament to the hard work of our team and our strong partnership with Delta Air Lines.”
The ACEC’s EEA competition is known as the “world’s greatest celebration of engineering excellence,” and Prime Engineering was formally recognized at the black-tie EEA Gala Dinner and Awards Program on May 15th, 2024, in Washington D.C. This national recognition signifies Prime’s dedication to:
- Client-centric collaboration: Working closely with Delta to understand their specific needs and deliver an exceptional outcome.
- Sustainable design principles: Minimizing the facility’s environmental impact while maximizing efficiency.
- Innovation: Implementing creative solutions like phased construction and energy-saving materials.
The Delta TechOps Engine Overhaul Facility is a shining example of Prime Engineering’s commitment to excellence and innovation. This project demonstrates the power of collaboration and sustainable design to solve complex challenges that ultimately drive success for clients.
