We are currently seeking a hands-on Director of Human Resources (HR) to join our team.

The desired location for this position is either Atlanta, GA;  Pittsburgh, PA; or Richmond, VA.

The Director of Human Resources will have direct responsibility for leading the day-to-day HR activities of the business. As a member of the leadership team, you will partner with leadership to drive key initiatives, programs, and activities involving management of people and culture in support of our strategic business objectives. You will also collaborate to manage functions including but not limited to organizational design, compensation and benefits, training and development, employee relations, recruitment, HRIS, and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains relationships among Human Resources, managers, and senior leadership.
  • Guides and coaches on issues related to all areas of human resources management, including but not limited to employee relations, performance management, diversity, equity & inclusion, company policies, staffing, compliance, development, engagement, retention, leaves, and accommodations.
  • Provides performance management guidance (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Reviews human-resources-related documents. Identifies risk, and partners with senior leadership to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies on employment-related matters.
  • Actively guides managers and employees through organizational development, change initiatives, and other projects, including communication strategy, impact analysis, and risk mitigation to ensure successful, effective, and widespread adoption.
  • Leads and manages the integration of current platforms titles, HR processes, and reporting.
  • Investigates and develops a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program across the organization.
  • Leads and manages Career Development Program across the organization, including salary analyses and consistency.
  • Leads and manages Benefits Program and recommends strategies to ensure organization is competitive with market.
  • Leads the integration of benefits across the organization to maximize benefits of scale while ensuring employee satisfaction and coverage.
  • Partners with the Recruitment Team to support the business’s hiring plans. This task may include review and development of job descriptions, recruitment plans, and initiatives, as well as recommending promotional opportunities to existing staff.
  • Conducts exit interviews, compiles measurable data relevant to turnover and attrition, and analyzes exit data to identify trends and address areas of concern.
  • Partners with the senior leadership team to evaluate, develop, and facilitate training programs and initiatives.
  • Partners with HR Team on HRIS administration, onboarding, orientation of new employees, offboarding of separating employees, workers’ compensation, audit, review of employment data to ensure accuracy, and employee inquiries.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to managing employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures the organization complies with federal and state regulations on all employment practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior HR capacity with a minimum of 4 years’ management experience.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Strong employee relations skills, leadership coaching, and organization development experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws to include but not limited to affirmative action, compliance, and federal and state regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly present complex information.
  • Self-motivated; demonstrates initiative, accountability, and ownership of work and outcomes.
  • A/E/C industry experience preferred.
