Cuong's journey traces its roots to a beginning as the first-generation son of immigrants. Cuong learned firsthand from his parents' experience that dreamers need to be doers, and all dreams are possible when backstopped by commitment and hard work. Born into this vibrant family of five, Cuong is the youngest, a quality that fostered his outgoing spirit. Cuong graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a registered professional engineer in more than a dozen states. Additionally, Cuong holds the Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) credential from the AABC Commissioning Group.

Cuong's professional career has spanned a broad range of industries and markets, including commercial real estate consulting, nuclear power design, data center design and commissioning, and design of food and beverage facilities. "I've had the opportunity to design and inspect anything from a mobile home park to a nuclear reactor throughout my career, and each has its unique challenges."

Cuong credits an impressive list of leaders and mentors who challenged, coached, and supported him throughout his career. "I was fortunate to have managers and bosses who taught me how to be a good engineer, but also showed me how to be a professional, a good person, and an inspiring leader as well." To young engineers and architects stepping into the AEC industry, Cuong suggests, "Be curious and ask questions; everyone needs to learn, and everyone needs help regardless of age or experience."

Outside the office, Cuong enthusiastically shuttles his daughters to their dance rehearsals several days per week and is a semi-professional dance dad responsible for logistics, baggage handling, and food orders during competition weekends. He also likes traveling with his family to explore unique experiences, cultures, and landscapes that form core memories that far outlast the latest clothing, electronic, or social media trends. "At the end of the day, I consider myself a pretty simple family man; I go to work for my family, come home to be with my family, and try to help out as much as I can along the way."
